This in-person session will take place on May 5, 2026, from 6:00–7:30 PM at the Center Club in Baltimore, led by Kimberly Royster, Founder and CFO of Kimberly Services LLC.
Strong financial management allows nonprofit leaders to make informed decisions while keeping mission priorities at the center. This session focuses on financial leadership rather than technical accounting, with attention to how budgets, cash flow, financial reporting, internal controls, and reserve planning work together to create stability and support growth.
Participants will strengthen their ability to interpret financial information, ask meaningful questions of bookkeepers, accountants, and finance committees, and communicate financial realities clearly to boards, staff, and funders. The session also addresses common nonprofit challenges, including restricted funding, underpricing programs, delayed financial review, and operating without reserves.
By the end of the session, leaders will have greater confidence in understanding their organization’s financial position, identifying priority decisions, and using financial insight as a strategic tool to support long-term sustainability and mission growth.
This workshop is exclusively for the 2025-2026 BLK Leadership Accelerator Class.
For those who couldn’t enroll in the in-person cohort, the virtual content is readily available through our member portal, ensuring all our members can access these invaluable insights and knowledge.
