This virtual session, which follows the in-person Board Development workshop held on April 7, led by Darius Graham, deepens the focus on strategic board recruitment and engagement.
Strong boards do not happen by chance. They are built through clear expectations, thoughtful recruitment, and consistent engagement. This session revisits the full lifecycle of effective board leadership, with added emphasis on identifying gaps, recruiting mission-aligned members, onboarding with clarity, and sustaining meaningful participation in virtual and hybrid environments.
Participants will examine how board composition, role clarity, and engagement strategies influence organizational stability, fundraising capacity, and long-term impact. The session also explores how governance practices must evolve as organizations grow, ensuring boards remain connected to the mission and responsive to changing needs.
The emphasis is on building boards that understand their responsibilities, contribute consistently, and support executive leadership in ways that match the organization’s current stage of development. Leaders will leave with a clearer framework for strengthening governance and advancing board effectiveness.
This workshop is exclusively for the 2025-2026 BLK Leadership Accelerator Class.
For those who couldn’t enroll in the in-person cohort, the virtual content is readily available through our member portal, ensuring all our members can access these invaluable insights and knowledge.
